Asturias is full of some of the most beautiful viewpoints in Spanish geography. These are places where it’s truly worth stopping and forgetting about the hands of the clock for a while. From Cangas Aventura, we want to show you five viewpoints in Asturias where you can observe some of the most impressive views of the northern paradise.
Cabo Peñas
Cabo Peñas is located in the municipality of Gozón, where a wooden walkway borders a cliff more than 100 meters above sea level, offering views as amazing as they are imposing.
It is possibly one of the most well-known viewpoints on the Asturian coast, but it still impresses those who visit it. If you’re up for it, you’ll see that the cape is crowned by the Peñas Lighthouse, which has been guiding sailors since 1852.
You can access it by car from Gijón or Avilés, but you can also walk from the council of Gozón through the Cabo Peñas Path. Although it’s very well signposted, it’s important to note that the entire route runs very close to the edge of the sea.

El Fitu Viewpoint
El Fitu is, along with Cabo Peñas, another of the most famous viewpoints in Asturias and a must-stop for anyone who wants to enjoy a 360º panoramic view of the Cantabrian Sea. On clear days, it’s even possible to glimpse part of the Picos de Europa.
At the foot of the viewpoint is the recreational area, where you can park and enjoy an area with tables for eating and resting. This same recreational area is also the starting point for different hiking routes.
To reach the El Fitu viewpoint, you have to take the AS-260 road – paved and safe – which connects Arriondas and Colunga.
La Regalina
In Cadavedo, you’ll find the La Regalina hermitage, from where you can enjoy the viewpoint of the same name. From there, it’s possible to observe the entire coast and also Cabo Vidio, as it’s relatively close.
As an interesting fact, you’ll be pleased to know that on the last Sunday of August, one of the most popular pilgrimages in the council of Valdés is always celebrated. Declared a Festival of Tourist Interest, it’s a great outdoor festival with a parade, proclamation, Mass, procession, and the famous Danza prima dance.

Cabo Vidio
If you pass through Cudillero, we advise you to drop by Oviñana, as the dirt road that borders its lighthouse holds one of the best views of the western Asturian coast.
You can easily approach by car and leave it parked in the different parking areas you’ll find. From there, you can walk through the Acantilados Cabo Vidio route and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding sea.
If you have time, we advise you to stay and watch the sunset. It’s incredible!
San Roque Viewpoint
An essential place in Lastres that will not only allow you to observe the Asturian village in all its splendor, but also the Sueve mountains, La Griega beach, Picu Pienzu, the Cuera mountain range, and, if it’s clear, even the Picos de Europa.
You can easily drive up to the viewpoint. From Oviedo, take the A-8, exit 346 towards Lastres. At the entrance of the village, you’ll already see the signage for the viewpoint.
Have you taken note of all the viewpoints in Asturias that you still have to see? Prepare your gear and enjoy the adventure!
